Dr. Akanand Singh, award winner surgeon has been the pioneer of Liver Transplant and Hepato- Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery in Nepal. It’s largely due to his effort and dedication for the establishment of the Liver Transplant & Hepatobiliary Surgery in the country. Dr. Singh is the first in the country to complete PhD in Hepatobiliary  Surgery. In 2021, Dr. Singh established first liver transplantation program outside capital city of Nepal at Chitwan Medical College (CMC), Bharatpur. In 2022, he joined KIST Medical College Teaching Hospital and established Liver Transplantation Program where he along with his team successfully performed Nepal’s first Combined Liver Kidney Transplantation (CLKT) in 2023. KIST Medical College is the only private hospital with the service of both Kidney and Liver Transplantation Program. He has received training in Hepatobiliary & Liver Transplantation Surgery from the world’s best institutions like Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, U.S.A, Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea, Chongqing Medical University, China & Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, India. He is working as a Consultant General & Hepatobiliary Surgeon at Nepal Mediciti Hospital and as the Faculty of Surgery and Liver Transplantation Surgeon at KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Lalitpur, Nepal.
